"1984 Melilla, Spain: Manuel Lopez Sierra, resident in Melilla, stabbed his wife 35 times on December 27, 1984. His motive for doing so was jealousy. She was a Jehovah's Witness. After the stabbing she was taken immediately to a hospital and given blood transfusion treatments. Leandro Cortina Dominguez, a friend and member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, came to the hospital to visit the wife. Upon finding the patient receiving blood transfusions she began to argue with both the doctors and nurses to stop the treatments. But they did not comply with her demands. So, while the patient was alone in her hospital room Leandro decided to disconnect the catheter. The patient died hours later. Leandro was later tried in court and put in jail for six years (Alternativa 2.000, No. 3, July-August, 1990)"
